The Howard & District Local Ambulance Committee was formed in June 2004 just prior to the opening of the Howard Ambulance Station, located in Thomas Street, Howard.

Three Paramedics are stationed in Howard which covers a wide area being Howard, Torbanlea, Burrum Heads, Toogoom and surrounds.

Functions of a Local Ambulance Committee:

Local Ambulance Committees liaise between the community and Queensland Ambulance Service by:

  • Promoting community participation in and awareness of Ambulance Services.
  • Provide advice to the Commissioner in respect to Ambulance Services in their Community.
  • Carry out fundraising activities for the benefit of Ambulance Services in their area, providing enhancements for the local Ambulance Station.
  • Representing their local community on matters affecting the provision of Ambulance Services.
  • Advise QAS staff of community expectations for Ambulance Services.
  • Promote awareness of QAS and Ambulance Service Delivery with-in the Community.
